Mungine is a MUD engine with a persistent database and the ability to change code and scripts while the system is running.  It has been written in C# and and has its own C# scripting engine built-in for all mud scripts.

Why another mud engine?  It is important to keep up to date with new technology and we feel that current mud engines in general lack the benefits of newer technologies.  That is why we are creating this one using C#.  This is also the reason why we decided to build the C# scripting engine.  We want to create a mud engine that is fully configurable, changeable, updateable and modifiable while the server is running, without the need of an IDE for the scripts or for editing or modifying the objects in the world.  You must be able to do everything online while the server is running, and when you reboot the server - all the changes must be persisted.  That is our aim.

The latest version of Mungine:  Version 1.4, released 18 December 2004.

What's new?

Version 1.4:

• Added area management to the server.
• Added some more file management functionality to the Mungript client.
• Fixed bugs.

Version 1.3:

• Added a whole new file management system to the Mungript client.  You can now create new scripts, delete files, edit XML data files and create folders and subfolders in the Mungript client while connected to a live Mungine server.
• Fixed bugs.

Version 1.2:

• We've created a Visual Studio plugin.  Connect to a live Mungine server and extract scripts and text files, modify it and upload them again directly to the live Mungine server.  Read more about Mungript (the plugin server) and the plugin in the documentation.
• Added ability to run Mungine as a Windows service.
• Fixed some bugs.

Is Mungine free?  Yes and no.  It has a free non-commercial license that you get by default with the current download.  This version is limited to 20 simultaneous user connections.  If you required a different license, drop us an email and we will send you the details.
